In art lessons over Semester One, 2017 Year One students worked on six mixed media artworks. In addition to practicing with a variety of art mediums and techniques the students interpreted the Six Season stories of the Menang people of Albany, Place of Rain – Kinjarling.

The students learnt how the Menang people looked after country; only ever hunting and gathering the amount of food needed, leaving plenty for future generations.

Then the Year One students made their paintings into a book, to which accompanying pages of Noongar words were added.

The Year One students have now taken their Six Seasons books to Science to share and discuss their understandings of the Physical World using their own artwork
