World’s Greatest Shave for Leukaemia

Congratulations to Zane who raised $561.85 shaving his hair and raising funds for leukaemia. Zane was well supported by students across the school who gathered last Friday lunchtime to witness Zane having his head of hair shaved. $151.85 was raised at Flinders from sponsorship and gold coin donations.

Matthew, who shaved his head last year, was given the opportunity to shave Zane. Owen also had his head shaved as he committed to supporting Zane if Zane reached a target of $200.00. It is good to see our students volunteering to help others and demonstrating the Flinders Student characteristic of contributing to community.

Congratulations go to Mr Hennig’s Room 4.3 Year 5 class for hosting the last assembly. Their emcee leaders did a great job introducing the various parts of the assembly and the class looked wonderful in the colonial clothing.

We were entertained by a lively rendition of the ‘Wild Colonial Boy’ and backed by Mr Hennig on acoustic guitar and Dylan on the lagerphone Faction Points total was presented as always in a novel way through the popping of balloons to reveal faction totals on messages inside the balloons!

Room 4.3 presented a dramatic presentation of Banjo Patterson’s ‘The Man from Iron Bark’. I must say I am very pleased I have not had my hair trimmed by such a barber!!

Well done, Room 4.3 on presenting an entertaining assembly.

Congratulations to students who were awarded Merit Certificates acknowledging their ability to follow the school agreements and doing their personal best through improvement or achievement - well done.

Mrs Edwards’ Year 4 Room 4.2 class will be hosting this week’s assembly on Thursday 17 March 2015 from 8:50am in the Covered Assembly Hall – all family and friends are invited to attend and support students in their performances and presentations.

National Day Against Bullying

This Friday is National Day Against Bullying and Violence. Our school is registered to help generate a widespread message that bullying and violence is never okay, in or outside the classroom.

All students are encouraged to say “Bullying. No Way! Take a stand together.” We have distributed a number of student pocket cards that have advice for students. On the office counter there is a small number of pocket cards for parents. Feel free to call in and collect one.
